9th edition of much awaited annual event ISMO (Inter-School Mathematics Olympiad) saw participation of record 11000 plus students this year. Show-case event of PakTurk was held on November 24th in 17 centers, located in 9 cities of Pakistan, simultaneously. The participants were the students of grade-5 to grade-8, both from government as well as private institutions, who competed in this unique Olympiad which is aimed at instilling interest in Mathematics education. More than 700 schools sent their students which is another proof of transparency and authenticity of this contest.
Started in 2005, PakTurk International Schools and Colleges successfully organized this event for the ninth year in a row for the young students of Pakistan.
This year, once again, attractive cash prizes in addition to plaques and certificates have been kept for the position holders.
1st position holders from each 5, 6, 7 and 8 class students will get a cash prize of Rs.50000/- each.
2nd position holders from each 5, 6, 7 and 8 class students will get a cash prize of Rs.40000/- each.
3rd position holders from each 5, 6, 7 and 8 class students will get a cash prize of Rs.30000/- each.
Moreover, top 20 position holders in each city will also get attractive prizes.
It is worth mentioning here that top position holder of class 8 category will be awarded with the title of “ Al-Khwarzmi of Pakistan” which will remain with that student for the period of one year.
ISMO results will be announced on December 6, 2013. Prize distribution ceremony for national level will be held in Islamabad in 2nd week of December while prize distribution ceremonies will also be held in other cities of Pakistan.
